![]() ![]() I could have gone for a Domination Victory pretty easily. I won that game with a Scientific Victory and had 80% (271 over 341) of a Cultural Victory. Eventually my relations with several of the remaining Civs improved to good relations, even offers of Alliances and joint wars. I had one game as Trajan/Rome where I kept Friendly relations which became Alliances with 2 Civs (Egypt and Maori), while I was conquering and killing (in this manner) 4 Civs (China very early with Levied City State units, then Ottomans, France and finally Germany) out of a total of 12 Civs in the World. IF you kill another CIV by conquering and KEEPING it's Last City, you will get a BAD hit to diplomatic relation with the other Civs in the game that will LAST for a long time. You will probably get Denounced a LOT, but that makes it easy for you to Declare War on your next choice to conquer. Now your accumulated bad Diplomatic relations will still be there, but it will now be possible to improve those relations by trade and bribes/tribute (they demand N gold per turn from you for 30 turns, or a Luxury Good, etc.). After that Civ dies, that -40 due to grievances will go away (any OTHER grievances against living Civs remain in affect). Before that Civ died, when I look at another Civ's opinion of me, I might see a -40 due to Grievances against other Civs. You can even let more than ONE City revolt to a Free City, if you want to.Īfter that Civ is totally gone (NO Cities on the Map), ALL OLD Grievances that Civ had Against You VANISH and NO longer affect Diplomatic Relations with the other Civs in the game. Eventually the Free City will probably revolt again to your control. The LAST City revolting to a Free City also eliminates that Civ. Try to pick a City that has a number of your Cities nearby as that LAST City, other wise it may be able generate enough positive Loyalty to keep from revolting. IF there are NO Cities that you can Liberate, then instead you want it's LAST City to REVOLT to be a FREE CITY due to a LOT of negative Loyalty Pressure, usually mostly Cities that you conquered from that Civ. If you return a City to another Civ that Civ will get a big positive increase in it's Diplomatic Relations with you. A restored City State will have 6 Envoys from you and Zero Envoys from all other Civs, which puts it under your sovereignity/control/influence, and generates a LOT of Diplomatic Favor points for you. You can do this to multiple Cities while conquering the other Civ, just make sure one of them is the LAST City conquered. When asked if you want to "Keep City?" you Liberate it as a restored City State or to the control of it's former owner. You do this by making the LAST City you conquer from an enemy Civ, either a conquered former City State or a conquered City from a different Civ. Third, learn how to eliminate Civs from the game in a way that gets rid of OLD grievances against you. Many Emergencies will be so far away, that you will be unable to take part in them. However, if you are pursuing a Domination Victory, the Emergencies are probably being declared Against YOU. OR you take part in an Emergency declared against another Civ. OR you let another CIV declare War on you. This reduces the grievances generated against you a LOT. The best way is to fight a Protectorate War to defend a City State that you control from being conquered by another Civ. Second, learn how to minimize the Grievances against you generated by fighting a War. Getting a Pantheon belief does not hurt or consume other resources. The only reason that I will(may) eventually get Divine Right and the Civics that lead to it is to get the Monarchy form of government. Culture into religious Civics and building religious sites, buildings(including Wonders) and religious units. First, FORGET Religion, put NO early resources into it, i.e.
